Lake Pleshcheyevo is one from largest and pure reservoirs in this region of Russia. The maximum length across the lake is 9.5 kilometers, coast length is about 28 kilometers. The maximum depth is 25 meters. Some little rivers runs into lake. The underground geysers supports constant value of temperature in low water layers. About 20 types of fishes lives in lake, including an unique fish, freshwater herring, which is called also 'ryapushka' imperial herring.
Lake Pleshcheyevo is the place where the Russian Navy was begun. Young russian king Peter the Great began to build the first Russian ships here at the end of 17 century. They built various courts: bots, yachts, vessels. The largest ship "Mars" had 30 guns.
The "Botik" manor is located at southern coast of lake, about 3 kilometers from city. The museum of Russian Navy history was open there at 1803. It is possible to view unique 'Fortuna' bot saved in special pavilion, wooden sculpture decorating the ships of Peter's fleet, guns and battle banners.
